After school with Mr.Waite, on the sport of water polo

By James Sagardi and Noh Jun Park

Reflection by Noh Jun Park

This piece came about because Mr. Waite was James's math teacher. I was thrilled to work on this with James because I saw him as the most reserved student in the Community Journalism class. Yet, he opened up a lot throughout the semester.  We talked a lot about his family that were affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. I really think he understood the fact that journalism is about making a mark on history.

At first, I didn't think we had the time to do this piece since Mr. Waite had a class during our session. To my surprise James insisted that we do this and that he wanted to stay after school to ask Mr. Waite questions about the sport, since James is into sports. We developed the questions and went from there.
